INTRODUCTION: ============= There are 13 fonts in this directory, named *.fnt after the corresponding options to the DOS "vfont" program. Here are their respective descriptions, taken from the vfont documentation: FONTS ----- s.fnt Solid-line, swiss font. A san-serif font. Solid-line means double-line line-drawing characters are rendered as a thicker solid line. sd.fnt Swiss-double, san-serif with the double-line line- drawing characters as they are in the default font. r.fnt Roman, complete with varying character line widths, serifs, and numbers that are non-lining (i.e. extend below the baseline). ro.fnt Roman Oblique, a variation on Roman. rl.fnt Roman Large, a taller version of Roman. mu.fnt Muchery (TM) a wide, san-serif font. ml.fnt Muchery Large, a taller version of Muchery. t.fnt Tektite, a "Architect" style font. c.fnt Clouds, a tall hybrid font. b.fnt Blockx, a very large and bold san-serif font. m.fnt Moderne, a highly stylized art-deco/moderne font. mr.fnt Moderne Round, a rounded version of Moderne. sc.fnt Scrawl, a handwritten-looking "scrawled" font. Peoples' reaction to this font ranges from horror to delight. Personally, I like it (for short stretches anyway) it makes the computer screen less perfect and even, more organic. Even if you don't like it, its a great gag font - put it on your co-workers computer today! Scrawl is an extensively re-worked version of a public-domain font (which had no name). SOURCE: ======= These fonts were taken from version 5.10 of the DOS - OS/2 program called "vfont". It can be found via anon ftp on many sites as "vfont2.zip" which is 29312 bytes. In this version of the program, the fonts are seperated from the DOS "vfont.com" program, and hence are easy to recover in a Linux useable format. They are stored as 13 consecutive 4096 byte font records in the file "vfont.dat". See the file "SCRIPT" if you want to know how to derive them from this file.
